Mighty Pucks Meal Plan

By: Patrick Haglund

Introduction | Task | Resources | Procedure | Evaluation | Conclusion

Introduction:

You are the captains of the Mighty Pucks roller hockey team. Your team does really well at the beginning of the game but seem to run out of energy in the third period. You notice that most of the team is eating fast food (McDonalds [BigMac, Large fry, milkshake, = 1500 calories, 42% fat] at lunch and before games. Could this be the reason the team runs out of energy?

The Task:

Develop a week long meal plan that would help your team eat healthier and possibly improve their ability to have energy for the whole game. Include in the meal plan what kind of calories, and how many calories are in each meal. Use the food guide pyramid to help you with balancing the meals and also know how many calories active teenagers need. Also check out how many calories are needed to play a hockey. Be sure to examine why fast food isn’t the best food for athletes. Write up a summary on these findings that you could use to convince your teammates to change their eating habits.
