Introduction

Do you think there is still a kind of spirit named Fair Play existing in our sport activity and game playing? Do you think we still need Fair Play spirit in our sport activity and game playing? Do you think Fair Play spirit is being taught appropriately and enough in our school settings? Are you ever puzzled by more and more sports scandals in modern competition? After this unit learning, you will find the right answer by yourself.

 

The Task

Now you are a member of Conflict Resolution Board in school. You and your colleagues found there is very few Fair Play spirit taught in your school, and students show very little sportsmanship in their physical education class, sports and game participation. So you and your colleagues will develop a school wide investigation project to investigate students’ view and behavior of Fair Play so as to develop more effective and specific teaching strategies, methodologies and curricular on teaching Fair Play letters and notions in school settings. Before the development of your project, you need to know the basic knowledge about Fair Play.  This section is designed to help you to get on the way by using Websites on line. 

The foundational questions should be:                                       

l         What is Fair Play?

l         Why we need Fair Play?

l         How to carry out Fair Play in our sports and game playing?

l         What kinds of things considered unfair play? How to deal with that?

l         Have you ever been taught the letters and notions of Fair Play? What you do you get about that?

l         What are your needs when you participate in a sport or a game? Explain it.

l         Are you participating in a game or sport for fun, to meet new friends, to develop new skills, or just want to win? Why?

l         Do you care more about right and wrong than winning and losing? Why?

l         What factors should be is related to students’ view and behavior of Fair Play in the school settings? Age, family, religion, sport, game, physical education content or others?

l         Have you ever been taught that some rules can be broken regularly and intentionally just because of so-called smart strategy? How do you think about that?

The Process

Go on line to find the answer related to those questions above, and present them on typing paper. The format of your paper can be either an essay which reveals your point of view about Fair Play in your school settings base on the basic knowledge of Fair Play, or a question-answer type which based on the questions above.
