What is TRIO?

Our nation is committed to providing educational opportunity for all Americans regardless of race, ethnic background or economic circumstance.

Because of this commitment TRIO (originally three programs) was funded by politicians in Washington DC in 1964 (History of Federal TRIO Programs). Upward Bound Math Science was approved by congress in 1990 and is in existence at the University of Idaho campus since 1991.
