Welcome to the 7th Annual Middle Level Summer Institute !
The Middle Level Summer Institute is a team based, hands-on, graduate credit institute for educators who work with 10-15 year olds (grades 5-9). The institute is specifically designed for teams of educators who identify a school improvement project based around (but not limited to) topics such as those listed below.  Teams are encouraged but individuals welcome.

Presenters and consultants will be available to provide guidance, facilitate networking between your team and others and identify resources for project completion.
Institute consultants are chosen for theory knowledge and expertise in grades 5-9 and the topic areas listed above.

Your team will benefit from the institute's emphasis on providing time for teams to work together to complete projects with guidance from our outstanding consultants. You'll blend research and practice throughout the week.

Institute Summary


The Middle Level Summer Institute emphasizes active participation by teams, sup
port personnel, and administrators. Each day of the Institute is organized to provide learning opportunities in morning sessions and afternoon sessions for reflecting and team time to incorporate new concepts into the development of your team project.

This year's Summer Institute will emphasize six key areas: literacy, math, advisory, teaming, integrated curriculum, assessment, and adolescent development.

Where is the 2005 Summer Institute?

The 2005 Summer Institute will be held on the Seattle

Pacific University Campus in Seattle, Washington.

Accommodations:
        SPU residence hall rooms will be available for partici­pants for an additional fee of $50 a night which includes dinner.

Institute Consultants: 
Institute consultants provide presentations during morning sessions and are available to meet with teams for afternoon sessions to discuss and share
best practices and methods.

Registration $300

 

Registration fee includes:

A morning break, lunch, access to stranded and exploratory sessions, and institute materials.

 

Credits:
Seattle Pacific University credits (quarter credits) will be available on-site

 

Three University of Idaho credits (semester credits) will be available on-site

 

Continuing education credits available on site from UI or SPU

All credit fees are in addition to the registration fee.
