The International Economic SummitÔ Fact Sheet 1998-2000 - Classroom materials, Web site, and Event Simulation developed and written by Jody Hoff, Vice President and Program Administrator, Idaho Council on Economic Education. The IES was adapted from an original concept developed by Kali Kurdy, a highly regarded and widely recognized classroom teacher at Borah High School in Boise, Idaho. 1999-2000 - Classroom and Event field-testing completed under the final year of a development grant from the J.A. & Kathryn Albertson Foundation. 2001 – All program materials and the International Economic Summit culminating event copyrights secured by the Idaho Council on Economic Education, all rights reserved. 2001 - The name and trademark The International Economic Summit registered by the Idaho Council on Economic Education. Spring 1999 to Present – Within the state of Idaho:
Spring 2001 - Expanded into Tennessee with a pilot program in the spring of 2001. The program was renewed for three years at the host institution, Middle Tennessee State University, under special arrangement with the Idaho Council on Economic Education. Spring 2001 - Expansion into Russia. Under special arrangements with the State University Higher School of Economics in Moscow, a pilot Summit program was held in Moscow in May of 2001 with 14 Moscow region schools participating. In the autumn of 2001 that number was expanded to twenty-four for the Summit in October. Teacher professional development for Moscow teachers conducted in February/March, 2002 with an additional 20 teachers undergoing initial professional development instruction in St. Petersburg preparatory to Summit expansion in that region. Spring 2002 - The International Economic Summit program adopted as the performance assessment in economics by the Idaho State Department of Education. Fall 2002 - Expansion into Knoxville, TN in partnership with Carson-Newman College. Fall 2002 - Funding received from the J.A. & Kathryn Albertson Foundation to provide a Mini-Summit Kit and teacher professional development on the IES curriculum and performance assessment in every high school in Idaho. Spring 2003 - Expansion into Illinois with the Illinois Council on Economic Education and Illinois Global Economics & Finance High School Project. Summer 2003 - Expansion into California in partnership with the California Council on International Trade, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and the University of Southern California.
