Dance Idaho! 2006
(Summer Dance Camp-2006)The University of Idaho Center for Dance
will collaborate with Festival Dance and Performing Arts for this years
summer camp. Lineage Dance (see web link below)will be the guest
instructors for the week teaching ballet, jazz/hip hop, modern dance,
and repertory.
When is the camp?
Sunday, July 9 to Saturday, July 15, 2006
Who can attend?
Students who are 12 years or above who have danced 3 years and can
handle a full week of exciting dancing.
What
will dancers
study?
Dancers will take classes in African, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and modern dance in studios equipped with
mirrors, barré space and music. The technical classes will
emphasis the role of discipline in developing the body's natural
fluidity and stamina while perfecting craft and honing skills.
Friday night will be a concert by Lineage Dance from California
and Saturday will be a concert by the dancers to showcase their talents
and dances they learn during the week.
Who are the
instructors?
Lineage Dance will be in residence for the entire week teaching the
majority of the classes. Outstanding faculty of the University of Idaho
and Festival Dance including Greg Halloran and Kerry Parker will also
teach classes.
What is the cost?
Tuition Only:
$155-before May 1
$170-after May 1
Room and
Board:
Home Stay with a local host family is:
$125 which includes room and board.

What scholarships are
available?
Many communities and schools offer scholarships for all or part of the cost of the
school. Check with your dance teacher to determine if such help is available to
you. A limited number of scholarships are also available from
Latah County for Latah County residents. Fore more information, contact Greg Halloran at

What are the
transportation options?
Moscow is accessible by air (Pullman/Moscow airport or Lewiston, which is 30 minutes from
Moscow). There is also Greyhound bus. If special assistance is required in advance,
studies will be transported from and to these services.
When
should dancers be
there?
Registration is scheduled for Sunday, July 9, in the early afternoon in the
Physical Education Building at the University of Idaho. |
