B.S. IN DANCE
Required
Coursework
The curriculum leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Dance
offers studends the opportunity to specialize in performance,
choreography and/or teaching.
The
program is designed to
prepare students for a professional role in the dance field by
providing professional training in teaching,
performing, choreography and concert production.
The Center for Dance offers all levels of ballet, modern and jazz and classes in social dance, world dance, tap,
hip hop and somatics. We also offer courses in history, pedagogy, production, Laban studies, choreography and performance studies.
Course
work also includes the HPRD Core covering issues of injury
prevention, health and nutrition, leadership skills and community
program planning.
Students
are able to draw on courses in
a number of related fields, such as theatre and music, to enhance their
education and individual goals.
Dance students
end their training with a senior project geared at preparing them for life after graduation.
