The Pros and Cons of
Entrepreneurship
Objectives:

Students
will be able to spot the advantages and disadvantages of being an
entrepreneur by listening to our guest speaker.

Students will be able to recognize the risks and
rewards of being an entrepreneur.

will be able to evaluate which advantages and disadvantages are most
important to them.
Materials:
Teaching/Learning Activities:

Introduce
guest speakers.

Class
Poll. Pose several (perceived) advantages and disadvantages
to the students. Have the class
raise their hands with those they agree or disagree; tally the results on
the board.

Request that each guest speaker give a brief history about:

When they became an entrepreneur?

Why they became an entrepreneur?

How they became an entrepreneur?

Questions . Provide the students with the
opportunity to pose questions to the guest speakers.
Instruction:
Introduction.
The rewards and
risks of entrepreneurship are completely different from those working for
someone else. Many entrepreneurs believe the thrill and excitement of
running their own show is well worth the long hours and financial risks.
Others, particularly those in bankruptcy court, are probably sorry that they
risked careers and family fortunes to launch a business.
Student Activities:

will take notes during the speakers presentation.

will participate in the discussion.

Students
will question the guest speakers using the questions they wrote down.

Students
will write a one-page essay as to why they want to become an entrepreneur,
or why they don't.
Assessment:
